Thursday Thirteen edition #69

Thirteen Things I really didn't need to eat

1….a cold potato from supper with a large slice of butter on it

2...the kraft slice I stuffed in my face while making supper (yes it is a 70's recipe, and so calls for kraft slices on top to be authentic... hey!)

3...the extra two bags of halloween chocolate mini bars I bought at 50% off on Nov 1

4...the mozzarella cheese microwaved on a plate I ate in bed last night

5...the couple of raisin oatmeal cookies that I steal when I go in the kitchen to get milk

6...the reeses peanut butter cups I got at the corner store last night when I went to buy milk (a theme?)

7...the quarterinch slabs of butter I put on the crackers I ate my soup with

8...the slice of cheese I put in my mouth while slicing mozza to put in the microwave to eat in bed.

9...the grilled cheese sandwich i ate in the bath (butter AND cheese... yes there is a real theme)

10...the spoonful of peanut butter (with a dollop of butter on it to cut the stickiness) I ate in passing

11...the gummy bears I had left over from motionsicknessprevention the last time I was a passenger in a car

12...the grilled cheese sandwich i ate for lunch, instead of something lighter like soup, or hey, something with um, veggies?!

13...the mozzarella cheese I will probably not stop myself from microwaving and eating in bed tonight. I swear... it helps me sleep better... and it cuts both the bread AND the butter out from the grilled cheese! agh! it is an addiction! Where is my fairtrade swiss chocolate??

Books for Future Clutterchild

  • Andrea U'Ren: Pugdog

    Andrea U'Ren: Pugdog
Pugdog just wants to be a dog, not a GIRL dog. Adorable illustrations, but a bit of overkill with the poodle ending. (****)

  • Rigoberto Gonzalez: Antonio's Card
Antonio is nervous to show his mother's card with his two moms after the kids laugh at the butch one outside school one day. Nice to see a butch mom. Extra points for being bilingual English/Spanish. (****)
  • Peter Parnell: And Tango Makes Three

Peter Parnell: And Tango Makes Three
Another beautifully illustrated book about gay fathers, in this case, two male penguins in the zoo, who raise Tango, their baby from egg. My only problem, "it takes 2 to make a Tango". drat from the single mom point of view. (*****)

  • Latifa Alaoui: Marius
Wonderful french canadian book about Marius, whose parents are divorced, and his mom has a boyfriend, and his father does too. Beautifully illustrated by Stephane Poulin (*****)
